Ferrari garage fire due to breather pipe rule change but FIA insist they have 'no concerns' about Sebastian Vettel or Kimi Raikkonen's car in Bahrain

  • Ferrari's car has pumped out clouds of smoke when starting up in the garage

  • The FIA have said they have 'no concerns' and it does not pose risks to drivers
  • The issue comes as part of a rule change with regards to the breather pipe

Ferrari made a stunning start to the season and find themselves completing the front row in Bahrain - but it is the behavior of the car, appearing to literally be on fire, during start-up that is dominating the pre-race chat.

The Italians' car has looked in fine form in both Australia and Bahrain so far this season but the cars are pumping out clouds of smoke after a rule change altered this year's model.

It came to light during pre-season testing in Barcelona as the breather pipe for excess oil has been rerouted and must now exit out of the back of the car.

Previously, many constructors were venting it into the engine air intake and so swaths of smoke never consumed the garages.

But the FIA governing body insists they have 'no concerns' about the issue and that it is actually more common than many would believe.

FIA F1 director Charlie Whiting said on the issue: 'We see it quite often, we saw it a lot with the Toro Rosso last year whenever they fired up.
